Welcome

The club caters for photographers of all skill levels from beginners to highly experienced. You do not need expensive camera equipment to participate in club activities.

We meet at the Valentine Bowling Club at 7.00pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Members can participate in graded print and digital competitions. ZOOM tutorial sessions and hands on workshops occur on the third and fourth Wednesday in each month. Go to About/Help/Contact for more information.

About our club

Lake Macquarie Camera Club Inc. is an incorporated association that was previously the Belmont 16s Photography Club. We meet at the Valentine Bowling Club on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie. Club members are required to join Valentine Bowling Club as social members.

Objectives of the Club

To provide members of the club with opportunities to advance the standard of their pictorial and technical photographic work.

To promote the exchange of information and ideas about photography through the provision of education and training programmes, newsletters, a website, and other means.

To encourage and assist members to participate in photographic competitions both within and beyond the Club.

PSA Interclub Competitions

All club members are encouraged to start submitting entries for possible selection to represent our club in the PSA Interclub competitions. Entries can be made from the club web page where you enter monthly competitions. Entries for Round 1 must be uploaded before October 15.

A full explanation of how the PSA Interclub competitions are organised can be downloaded here.

If you are intending to submit entries for any of the three Rounds of this competition you must sign an image release form that will allow PSA to show your images on the PSA website. Please download the form and email it to Roy Killen.

Portfolio Competition is closing soon.

If you have not already done so and want to enter the club’s September portfolio competition you still have a little time to get your entry in. Entries close this coming Sunday evening – Sunday 12th September. The competition will be “judged” by Craig Parker who presented to the club earlier in the year on the same subject. Craig has now also agreed to discuss the results of the competition to provide further feedback and learning on Wednesday 20th October.

The competition rules and the two guideline documents on how to prepare your composite image using either Photoshop or Lightoom can be found in the Club Documents area on the club website or when you are on the competition entry page you can access the same from the orange button titled “CLICK HERE TO VIEW COMPETITION RULES AND DEFINITIONS”.

Zoom Presentation for September

Our next Zoom presentation is on Wednesday September 8th at 7pm. Mieke Boynton will be hosting the workshop. Mieke (pronounced Meeka) will be sharing with us some of her award winning images. She is a multi award winning landscape photographer based in Bright Vic. Her work is truly outstanding! Take a look at her website for some inspiration.

September Raw Image Challenge

This months Raw Image Challenge is now open and can be found in the members area. Thanks to all those who entered last month and an invitation to everyone to take a look at and score the monochrome conversions that were entered. Simply find the blue scoring button beside the August challenge and follow the instructions. The more people we can have scoring the better. Just rank the images from 1 to 5, join in and give it a try!

To enter for September simply download the raw file from the competition entry area and edit with your favourite editing program eg Lightroom PhotoShop etc. then upload before the end of the month.
