Wangi Workers Camera Club Invitation

For those members who may be interested I have received an invitation from Colleen Price to attend a presentation by Robin Moon at Wangi Workers Camera Club Auditorium on Monday 22 May at 7 pm.

“At the end of 2022 and into early 2023 I had the opportunity to spend 2 months shooting in extreme weather conditions. Firstly in Antarctica, and then in North America, where temperatures reached to -23c.
Not only were the environments a visual and sensory delight, but the challenges of shooting safely in extreme weather were quite a challenge. This will be a story of a heartfelt journey where daily, words could not adequately describe the magic I found. Large landscape composition, high key shooting and wildlife challenges will be themes of this story.”

2023 Australia Photographic Society (APS) – Australia Cup

Each year our club participates in the Australian Photographic Society’s Australia Cup – a digital competition between photography clubs across Australia. Last year we came sixth! All members, irrespective of grade, are requested to submit two images for consideration to be selected as part of our entry of 20 images (two images per member can be put forward).

This year there is a theme for the competition which is “This is Australia. “Any image that shows a flavour of life in Australia including landscapes, people, iconic events and iconic places including architecture, birds and animals. Images may be taken in any of Australia’s territories.”

I can immediately think of some wonderful images that members have taken and entered in club competitions. So, please take some time to look back over your images and enter some iconic images of this beautiful country we call home.

Entries close Sunday 14thMay.

The easiest way to submit an image is to select a previously uploaded image that has done well in our competitions.

To do this:

  • Go to the entry form APS Australian Cup 2022 preselection in the Members area of the club website.
  • Use the green “Select From Existing Uploaded Images” button
  • Open the Result filter, clear the filter, then check your highest awards
  • When selecting your image please remember the theme for this year’s competition. Review the images as a slideshow and then select the chosen image for entry. This returns you to the entry form and populates the entry.
  • Repeat for your second submission.

Please do not enter previously submitted images, whether they were a part of our, or another club’s entry. Also, you can only submit entries as part of one club.

May Club Night Reminder

The May club night will be at the Valentine Bowling Club at 7.00pm on Wednesday 10th May. At this stage I don’t have a presenter lined up so if anyone would like to step forward to give a 15 to 30 minute presentation or talk on an aspect of their photography please get in touch. Our print judge for the night is Chris Prior. See you then.
