March Set Subject – Negative Space

The criteria for the March Set Subject has been updated and includes a link with additional information and examples.

Negative space is the area around and between objects in a picture, which can provide ‘breathing room’ giving the viewer’s eyes somewhere to rest and prevents the image from appearing too cluttered. Ideally, it should be used to enhance an image by creating better-composed pictures as well as allowing viewers to see sizes and shapes more easily (you may find this article useful – https://contrastly.com/negative-space/), to be judged by Terina Vale.

Entries for the March competition close at 11pm 17/03/2019.

Thank you Bill Chambers

Last week Bill Chambers delivered a practical workshop on “Painting with Light”. As usual, Bill hit us with a wealth of information ranging from making up your own tools and toys to the process of gaining different images by using different tools and of course, doing it safely. The night was informative, interesting and participants had the chance to make their own images. It was a great night and of course, Bill gave the” grey matter” a good kick start!
