August Image Evaluation
Due to Covid restrictions the print nights have been cancelled for the remainder of the year. Also due to the success of a previous Zoom image evaluation night where members upload images and then evaluate those images within a small group (approx 5 or 6). It has been decided to trial discussion nights on the 3rd Wednesday for Aug, Sept and Oct. Note this is NOT a competition and you can use any of your images.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
- Upload 1,2 or 3 images to the website in the members area for “August Image Evaluation” before 11.55pm Tuesday 17th Aug
- Login via Zoom at approx 7pm Wed 18th August
- You will be assigned into small groups to discuss the images uploaded for your group
This is a great opportunity to gain feedback for your images from other members. See you there! GregC

Zoom Presentation Wednesday August 11th at 10.00am
Our next Zoom workshop will be on the morning of Wednesday August 11th. NOTE start time will be 10.00am. (With a 9.45am login) This is due to our presenter John Martin living on the east coast of the USA. John is a member of the PSA and has been a guest speaker at many travel and photographic conferences and is currently associate editor of “The Photo Traveler”
Topic “A CASE FOR BLACK AND WHITE IN TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY”
John uses a comparison of twenty-five image pairs – colour vs black and white — to show his reasoning behind a preference for black and white in some cases. He describes the subject matter which, he feels, makes black and white preferable. He examines situations where black and white better conveys the story and/or purpose.
This should be a great follow up workshop from last months presentation with Roy on Monochrome conversion techniques. See you there!

Cancellation of Print Nights and 2021 Print Competitions
At our August Committee Meeting the difficult decision was taken to cancel the remaining Print Nights and the 2021 Print Competitions as a result of the unfolding Covid 19 outbreak in the Greater Sydney and Hunter regions. Your committee understands how important these nights are to members socially and to what the club is able to offer from a photography perspective. Rest assured the committee will be monitoring the Covid 19 situation and the health guidelines and will advise the resumption of our Print Competition nights when it is safe and practicable to do so.
As we did last year all members who have submitted entries in the 2021 Print Competitions can now re-enter those images in the remaining digital competitions so that they can ultimately enter the same image in the club Image of the Year Competitions.
In lieu of the monthly competition nights the club will offer image evaluation sessions along the same lines as we ran earlier in July. All members are encouraged to upload images for discussion and evaluation by 11.55pm on Tuesday 17th August. The image evaluation session will be held via ZOOM on the following Wednesday night, 18th August.
