The club caters for photographers of all skill levels from beginners to highly experienced. You do not need expensive camera equipment to participate in club activities.

We meet at the Valentine Bowling Club at 7.00pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Members can participate in graded print and digital competitions. ZOOM tutorial sessions and hands on workshops occur on the third and fourth Wednesday in each month. Go to About/Help/Contact for more information.

About our club

Lake Macquarie Camera Club Inc. is an incorporated association that was previously the Belmont 16s Photography Club. We meet at the Valentine Bowling Club on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie. Club members are required to join Valentine Bowling Club as social members.

Objectives of the Club

To provide members of the club with opportunities to advance the standard of their pictorial and technical photographic work.

To promote the exchange of information and ideas about photography through the provision of education and training programmes, newsletters, a website, and other means.

To encourage and assist members to participate in photographic competitions both within and beyond the Club.

Astronomy Photoshoot

There maybe a small window of clear sky along the east coast and it could happen tomorrow night. The rest of the week, forecast is cloud and rain.

Our Astro Photoshoot is scheduled for tomorrow night. Monday June 3rd

TIME – Capture the night sky will happen from 6.30pm to approx 8.30pm Monday 3rd June. Meet in the car park from 6.15pm for instructions and risk assessment.

LOCATION – Caves Beach Headland (just above Caves Beach Surf Club) Head south along Caves Beach Rd, thru the shopping centre until there are no houses on the ocean side. Continue to head south, keep an eye out on the LHS and you will see the entry to the car park just south of the Surf Club. There is a short walk via concrete path to the headland.

EQUIPMENT – You will need and must have – Camera and wide angle lens, tripod, warm clothing, solid footwear a small torch or headlamp.

BEFORE YOU GET IN THE CAR – Practice setting your cameras white balance to 4300K or anything other than AUTO and make sure you can change the shutter speed, aperture and ISO in Manual mode

Come along and see if you can capture some stars and some foreground at night. All members are welcome

I will be in carpark from 6.15pm. Remember, this photoshoot is weather dependant an may have to be cancelled on the night if necessary. It will be cold so rug up!
