March Raw Image Challenge

This months challenge is the classic panorama looking down on Queenstown New Zealand. To download the file simply go to the members section and select the “March Raw Image Challenge” and you will see a blue button to download the file. Now edit the file using any editing program and then upload your EDI file to the challenge competition before the 31st of March. At the end of the month you will be able to see how others have edited the same file and judge the winners.

Zoom Workshop February 24th

Our next Zoom workshop will be held on Wednesday February 24th at 7pm

Topic – A beginners guide to creating a Portfolio of photographic images.

As you may be aware in 2021 the club is encouraging members to create a portfolio of 6 images based on a theme or concept. Hopefully we can all learn or practice some new skills, open up some new ideas and challenge ourselves in our photographic journey.

The Zoom presentation is by Craig Parker, who is a winner of a distinction in PSA Portfolio work . I’m sure Craig will provide us with plenty of inspiration and knowledge about putting together a portfolio of images.

Zoom invites will go to all  Zoom members on Wednesday morning. Check your emails! Meeting will open at 6.45pm for a 7pm start

Hope to see you there! GregC

Exciting new concept

PORTFOLIO CHALLENGE.

A portfolio is a selection of images that make up a whole so that several individual photographs become one body of work. Your club is encouraging  a portfolio approach in 2021 in addition to our regular EDI comps so you can explore and improve your photographic journey. All you need is an idea you want to explore using the medium of photography.

Each portfolio should use 6 images that follow the theme being explored plus a final 7th image that helps pull together the preceding images. You can use any images already used in other comps.

Images should be the same size as in EDI comps and we will ask you to have a title for the portfolio as well as a statement of intent. Sounds a bit intimidating? We hope to organise mentors where possible. It will be an all year project officially starting right now and closing in October and we will review entries to gauge progress. At this stage we see it as a way to grow and have your work evaluated by experts  but we may decide to offer award incentives.

An upcoming Zoom presentation by Craig Parker, winner of a distinction in PSA Portfolio work, on Wed 24th Feb 7pm should help you understand  more about this form of project and Craig may agree to be a judge.

This is a great way to challenge yourself. More info will follow but to familiarise yourself with the concept of a portfolio, have a look at this site
