Reminder – June Club Night

A final reminder. The June club night will be at the Valentine Bowling Club at 7.00pm on Wednesday 14th June. Our presenter for the night is Don Anderson. Don’s presentation will be about his photo tour to central Australia to photograph Kathi Thanda (Lake Eyre) and The Painted Hills from the air. We saw some of these stunning images in Don’s portfolio project.

“Deep in the South Australian desert lies vast Kathi Thanda and nearby The Painted Hills, a lunar landscape of ochre-red and mustard yellow. The lake lies below sea level and usually is completely dry. However, in 2022 water from north-western Queensland flowed into the lake and even more unusually it also rained locally. This not only filled the lake and allowed plants to grow but also brought fish and birds. In August I was fortunate to be able to take several flights over this area in a small plane with the doors removed to provide the best possible view.”

We will have our usual raffles and refreshments. A great chance to socialise and discuss the displayed prints. See you then.

Our print judge for the night will be myself 😉

Membership Renewal 2023 to 2024 – Reminder

A special thanks to those members who have already  sent in their Lake Macquarie Camera Club membership forms, paid their club fees and have joined Valentine Bowling Club and provided a copy of their membership card showing that it is current for 2024.

For those members who have not yet renewed their membership you have until the 30th June to renew. We need to set this deadline so that we can close off the annual membership renewal process. After this date we will be assuming that past members of Belmont 16s Photography Club do not intend to join our new club and their access to the club website and ability to enter club competitions will be removed. New people joining the club or old members who miss the 30th June deadline can of course apply to join the club anew.

As you can appreciate we have a few gaps in information to fill in so over the coming weeks we will be contacting some people to make sure we have all the relevant information. We appreciate your continued support.

Wangi Workers Camera Club Invitation

For those members who may be interested I have received an invitation from Colleen Price to attend a presentation by Robin Moon at Wangi Workers Camera Club Auditorium on Monday 22 May at 7 pm.

“At the end of 2022 and into early 2023 I had the opportunity to spend 2 months shooting in extreme weather conditions. Firstly in Antarctica, and then in North America, where temperatures reached to -23c.
Not only were the environments a visual and sensory delight, but the challenges of shooting safely in extreme weather were quite a challenge. This will be a story of a heartfelt journey where daily, words could not adequately describe the magic I found. Large landscape composition, high key shooting and wildlife challenges will be themes of this story.”
