May Zoom Workshop

Our next Zoom presentation is with Adrian Whear . The topic is “Street Photography” which just so happens to be our set subject for September so here is a chance to learn some tips and tricks from an expert.

“So you want to try street photography but are a bit nervous about it all. No doubt, photographing strangers can be a bit intimidating at first. Street photography is challenging but it can be so rewarding
Internationally awarded street photographer Adrian Whear takes you through the process of finding the right locations to shoot, spotting the lighting and nailing high impact street photos.”
Login via the Zoom link at 6.45pm for a 7pm start on Wednesday 18th May

APS Australian Cup preselection entries close this sunday!

Each year our club participates in the Australian Photographic Society’s Australia Cup – a digital competition between photography clubs across Australia.

All members, irrespective of grade, are requested to submit two images for consideration to be selected as part of our entry of 20 images (two images per member can be put forward).

Entries close Sunday 15thMay.

The easiest way to submit an image is to select a previously uploaded image that has done well in our competitions.

To do this:

  • Go to the entry form APS Australian Cup 2022 preselection
  • Use the green Select From Existing Uploaded Images button
  • Open the Result filter, clear the filter, then check your highest awards
  • Review the images as a slideshow and then select the chosen image for entry. This returns you to the entry form and populates the entry.
  • Repeat for your second submission.

Please do not enter previously submitted images, whether they were a part of our, or another club’s entry. Also, you can only submit entries as part of one club.

Judging Course – Expressions of Interest

The club will be running another Judging Course in August and is now calling for expressions of interest from those who may be interested in joining. Even if you do no judging after you have completed the course those who attend will gain an appreciation of how to critically review images and then provide feedback in a positive way. This will not only help other photographers but will help your own photography as you learn more about what elements you need to make successful images. If you are interested please get in touch with Bill Chambers on 0428 487 838 or batfish2@bigpond.net.au

May Club Meeting

Just a reminder that our May club meeting is approaching and will be held at the Valentine Bowling Club in the upstairs function room next Wednesday 11th May, commencing at 7.00pm.

Bill Chambers will be presenting the first in a series of presentations “The FUNdamentals of Photography”. This will be a fantastic presentation for those members who may be new to photography. Bill is going to start with some of the basic camera settings and will over the course of this presentation and subsequent presentations take “a deep dive” into the many functions modern cameras have. Please bring along your cameras. There will be plenty of opportunities during the presentation to ask questions.
