Commencement of 2023 Club Activities

I hope that everyone has had an enjoyable Christmas celebrated with family and friends.

Club activities will commence in January with the commencement of our digital and print competitions. These can be uploaded to the club website in the usual way and entries close for each competition on Sunday 8th January at 11.59pm. Use the year selector for 2023 on the club entry page and please make sure that you read the definition for the set subject competition “A Face to Remember”. The list of 2023 set subjects can be found in the Club Documents – Rules/FAQ’s/AGM Set Subjects section of the website.

The January club night will again be held at the Valentine Bowling Club on Wednesday 11th January commencing at 7.00pm. The first item on the agenda will be to hold an Extraordinary Meeting that will vote on “winding-up” the Belmont 16s Photography Club.

The motion to be put is as follows:

  1. To authorise the club Committee to apply for registration of a new photography club as an incorporated association.
  2. To transfer the assets of the Belmont 16s Photography Club to the new incorporated club at a date determined by the Committee.
  3. To cease operation of the Belmont 16s Photography Club at a date determined by the Committee.

Members can vote on this motion through one of the following means:

  • By attending the meeting in person
  • By attending the meeting via ZOOM using the link available on the club website. The ZOOM meeting will be opened at 6.50pm.
  • By submitting a vote via email to the Club Secretary – Susan Slack. Sue’s email address is gordon.slack15@bigpond.com

Early voting via email opens on 1st January 2023 and closes on 10th January 2023.

I’m hoping to see as many members as possible at our January meeting but if you can’t come in person then please endeavour to join by ZOOM or participate in the vote by submitting an email vote to our Club Secretary – Susan Slack.

Following the Extraordinary Meeting there will be a short presentation by Bob Todd on his experiences undertaking one of the PSA (Photographic Society of America) courses and then refreshments and the commencement of our January Print Competition judging.

Maitland International Saloon of Photography – Group Discount Reminder

To date we have had only a few people indicate they are going to enter this competition and it looks unlikely we will get the requisite minimum of 10 entries. I suggest we set a deadline of this Friday, 16th December for you to indicate whether you intend to enter. Please refer to the previous post on the club website from 6th December which advises that you should contact David Richards –  davidrichards5050@gmail.com or 0419 626 321(M).

Please remember that it is a straightforward process to enter digital entries from the MyPhoto club website. If you have some gems that have done well in club competitions this year or an image that you felt was under appreciated, here is a perfect opportunity to enter it in this competition and to have it assessed with new judges.
