The club caters for photographers of all skill levels from beginners to highly experienced. You do not need expensive camera equipment to participate in club activities.

We meet at the Valentine Bowling Club at 7.00pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Members can participate in graded print and digital competitions. ZOOM tutorial sessions and hands on workshops occur on the third and fourth Wednesday in each month. Go to About/Help/Contact for more information.

About our club

Lake Macquarie Camera Club Inc. is an incorporated association that was previously the Belmont 16s Photography Club. We meet at the Valentine Bowling Club on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie. Club members are required to join Valentine Bowling Club as social members.

Objectives of the Club

To provide members of the club with opportunities to advance the standard of their pictorial and technical photographic work.

To promote the exchange of information and ideas about photography through the provision of education and training programmes, newsletters, a website, and other means.

To encourage and assist members to participate in photographic competitions both within and beyond the Club.

New date set for “It’s a Knockout”

The NEW DATE for “It’s a Knockout” is now Wednesday September 25th at VBC

I have reopened the competition. This means:

1. The new closing date is now Tuesday Sept 24th

2. If you wish, you can DELETE your image if you cannot attend on this date.

3. You can edit and/or replace your existing image.

4. Do nothing and your original uploaded image will remain in the competition.

Invitation from Wangi Workers Camera Club

Wangi Workers Camera Club (11 – 19 Market Street, Wangi Wangi) have extended an invitation to our members to attend a presentation at their club on Monday 26th August, commencing at 7.00pm. 

Samuel Markham will be presenting. Samuel is one of Australia’s leading photographers and was recently crowned the ‘Australian Geographic 2023 Nature Photographer of the Year. He has worked alongside many reputable brands such as Canon, Australian Photography Magazine, the Australian Museum and the BBC. Following is an outline of his talk.

Samuels bio is:

Samuel Markham is a self-taught landscape and wilderness photographer based on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. Photography entered his life in 2011, transforming the way he perceives the world and instilling in him a profound gratitude for nature’s intricate details that he once overlooked. His artistic endeavours are grounded in a profound respect and awe for both nature and its almighty creator, seeking to convey reverence through the images he captures. Over the years he has developed a fascination with dramatic light and atmosphere. Driving him on an endless journey to capture those elusive moments that encapsulate the essence of freedom. In 2023 he was crowned the Overall Winner of the Year ’Australian Geographic 2023 Nature Photography of the Year’ for his image “My Country Burns” taken during the horrific 2019 / 2020 Black Summer bushfires that devastated Australia.

August Raw Image Challenge

Time for another challenge. Download the raw image from the competition area and edit with your favourite editing program.

Make sure you upload your image before the end of the month. Everyone has a chance to score the images and the winners will be announced.

This is a chance to practice your editing skills and then be able to see how others have edited the same image. Give it a try!

APS Australia Cup 2024 – Results

Our club achieved 13th place in the APS Australia Cup this year, out of 57 clubs.
 
Congratulations to all club members who had their images submitted as part of our club’s entry.
