MACRO AND CLOSE-UP PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

A Zoom workshop on Macro and Close-Up Photography will be held next week. The details are:

  1. The meeting will occur on Wednesday 10th June commencing at 7pm and will last for approximately 90 minutes. The presenter is Roy Killen.
  2. Topics covered will include: equipment options, lighting options, processing options, subject selection and overcoming challenging issues such as depth of field.
  3. The workshop is available only for members of the Belmont 16s Photography Club.
  4. To prepare for participation you must have the Zoom software on your computer or device. If you have not participated in a previous Zoom meeting go to https://zoom.us/download and download the “Zoom Client for Meetings”.  I suggest you do this as soon as possible and contact Greg Carruthers (the club’s Zoom co-ordinator) if you have any problems.
  5. To participate in the Macro workshop you must also email Greg so that he can add you to the list of participants. If you previously registered for Greg’s Lightroom workshops you will automatically be added to the participant list for this new workshop – you don’t have to contact Greg.
  6. On Wednesday afternoon all participants will receive an email from me with a link inviting them to join the workshop via their computer or device. You can use this link from 6.30pm to make sure you are ready for the 7pm start.

You can find contact details for Greg and me in the “Members” link on the club website if you select “Members Directory”.

JUNE SET SUBJECT – D. Schofield

I have received some enquiries concerning the definition of the June set subject:

“Focus is to be on the cook at home in the kitchen – not a BBQ. The cook must be at work in the process of creating a dish – not just posing with a finished product. The image should tell a story about the love of cooking”

The focus is on the cook – not just hands and arms  The viewer should  be able to see the expression on the cook’s face.

The cook should be working at home in a kitchen – not a BBQ (either inside or outside).

The cook should be shown creating a dish – not just posing with the finished product.

The image should tell a story about the love of cooking.

June Raw Image Challenge

The Raw image challenge is on again! This is a challenge open to all members of the 16’s Camera Club. You are supplied with a raw image file and we would like you to edit the image using some software. One of the goals of the club is to assist members in their photography skills. Here is your chance to improve and practice your editing skills. Here’s how it works

  1. Download the raw image file from the website. To download the image for this month, go to the members area to enter the “June Raw Image Challenge” This will open a new window where you will see a blue button to “DOWNLOAD FILE.”
  2. Download the RAW file to your computer.
  3. Open and edit the file in your preferred software (or try something different)
  4. When you have completed your edit, upload it to the website by entering the “June Raw Image Challenge” using the usual EDI format for your image.
  5. The challenge will open June 1st and close June 30th
  6. Members will then be able to see all the images entered and vote for the winning entries using our online voting system.

This is an ideal opportunity to experiment with your editing skills and to see how others would process a raw image. You can manipulate this image in any way e.g. crop, rotate, monochrome conversion, filters etc, the list is endless. We would like you to experiment!

However just 1 rule. You can only work with what you are given. You are not allowed to add other elements e.g. sky replacements etc and just remember you cannot enter your edited image in a normal EDI competition as it was not your own capture!

Keen to give it a try? Great! Here is a copy of the file to edit for this month.

Like to see the results of last months challenge. Select the online scoring tab next to MAY RAW CHALLENGE and vote for your favourite edits. Results will be published next week

Any issues please contact Greg Carruthers (contact details can be found in the members area of the website)
