Thanks to Les Atkins and Gionni Di Gravio for a marvellous night.
Those who attended were very impressed.
Les did a very moving presentation on a Tribute to The Anzacs – the lost Diggers Project. It included images from various sources including those from the War Memorial and photographic plates which had recently been found in France. Images with music were part of the presentation. One of the attending members commented that the presentation should be compulsory viewing in all schools.
Gianni followed Les with a PowerPoint presentation on the various collections held in the Auchmuty Library Archives. He showed examples of famous photographic collections held at the university and the work being carried out to digitise and preserve them. These digital images are available to everyone through the university website Living Histories http://livinghistories.newcastle.edu.au, Flickr and Facebook. The audience was amazed by the work being carried out in the Auchmuty Archives Department.
Thanks also to Colin Woods for his fantastic technical support.
