2023 Image of the Year Competition

Our 2024 Image of the Year (IOTY) competition is fast approaching. This competition allows members to enter their best images that they have entered during the year in our monthly competitions and to have them judged by a different panel of judges. Members can enter up to 4 of their best images that they entered in their respective grades in the IOTY Open Colour, Nature, and Monochrome sections of the digital and print competitions held during the year.

With the exception of images entered in Set Subject competitions, images can only be entered in the same section that they were entering during the year. (e.g. An image previously entered in Nature cannot be entered in Colour in the IOTY.)

Once these results are announced club members will be asked to pick their overall single IOTY winner which will be announced at our Christmas Function on Sunday 3rd December.

If you are entering the IOTY Print competitions you can bring your prints to the club night next Thursday at VBC for collection or alternatively drop them off at either Sue Slack, Ruth Keech or Di Schofield’s homes. Please contact before you drop off.

If you have any questions about this competition, please get in touch with one of your committee members. I will go through this again at the club night next week.

Balcony Photoshoot and Zoom Workshop

As a follow up to our “Fun Fotography Night”, those that attended know that you had to capture an image of the telescope out on the balcony. Part of the challenge was then to replace the sky with a nightscape image.

A “Sky Replacement Zoom Workshop” will be held this Tuesday October 3rd at 7pm. If you are not sure how to do this in Photoshop then join in using the members link on the website.

By attending you will learn how to

  1. Replace the sky in your balcony image
  2. Download FREE skies to use in Photoshop
  3. Create skies to use from your own images
  4. Import your own sky images into Photoshop
  5. Edit your final image

To get you started please download 2 nightscape sky images below to use for sky replacement.
