About our Club

Belmont 16s Photography Club is a subsidiary club of the Belmont 16 Foot Sailing Club which is located on the eastern shore of Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia.

All financial members of the Belmont 16 Foot Sailing Club are welcome as members of the Photography Club. (You must join the main club before joining the Photography Club.)

The club caters for photographers of all skill levels, from beginners to highly experienced. You do not need to have expensive camera equipment to participate in the club activities.

We hold our competition meetings on the third Wednesday of each month, starting at 7.30pm. Prints have to be submitted by 6.30pm and they are on display for members to view before the judging starts at 7.30pm. There is no obligation for members to enter competitions; many attend these nights simply to view the photographs, learn about photography and socialise.

The monthly competitions have two main divisions – print and digital. The digital competitions are held online and this allows members to participate even if they are unable to attend the monthly meetings.

During 2016, training sessions will be held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, and they start at 7.00pm. These training activities help members to develop their photographic skills and their image editing skills.

The monthly competitions and the monthly training sessions are held in one of the upstairs rooms of the Belmont 16ft Sailing Club. We do not know in advance which room has been allocated – so just ask at the reception desk when you enter the club.

The club holds occasional workshops and photographic outings. These are advertised on the club website.
